Small Engine Repair Inside

working_01When a customer brings their machine into be worked on they really never get to see anything futher then past the front desk, and some people might want to know what goes on, and how their machine is placed in order to be worked on. The process is sort of complicated because it is only to make sure that we do not lose your machine nor do we lose which day it is going to be worked on, so lets take a look on the inside.

pst_frpgOne of the first things you see that we do is take down your information, this is very important to us because this is how we track your equipment through the shop, some people feel uncomfortable giving this information but really it is only to place your equipment with your address, we track your equipment by 4 methods, serial number, tag number, phone number and customers name.

once we have all this information our counter person will go out and write down your equipment make model and serial numbers, and then we will place them into the computer management system, and you are given a customer number, work order number and also a invoice number, we write down what is going on with your equipment and categorize your equipment by what needs to be done, if it is a simple fix, like a tune up with no extra repairs, it goes into our morning line ups, which means that our turn around time is a bit faster, however if your equipment will need more work done, then we will place that in our afternoon categorise, and it will be inspected and parts will be ordered as needed.chainsaw_01
We cannot be sure what is going on with your equipment until we get it up on the bench and look at it, and inspect what issues you are having. When your equipment is ready for the tech to look at he will get a work order and he will then put your machine up on the bench to inspect it, and he will first take the time to inspected anything he might see that needs to be repaired before he tackles the issues that it is in for.

Once the Tech is handed his work order, he takes the time to really look over your equipment, and based on what he does find, he then will start his repairs as requested, and during the repairs will note on the work order any issues that might prevent your equipment from running properly.

Lawn mowers, snow blowers and hand held equipment get almost the same inspection as lawn tractors, however we use the same inspection standards, which include the following when applicable.

1.  Check/tighten hardware
2.  Check Safety System*
3.  Check Hydrulic filter*
4.  Change Engine Oil & Filter*,
5.  Sharpen mower blades
6.  Change Spark Plugs
7.  Change Fuel Filter*
8.  Change air filter & precleaner
9.  Check belts & mower adjustments
10.Clean engine, battery, radiator & mower*
11.Check tire pressure & Check mower deck level*
12.Lubricate tractor & mower
13.Check Engine Coolant*
14.Check Transmission oil & filter*

Once the tech has completed all these steps and all the repairs he double checks to make sure that everything was covered that the customer requested, if there is anything noted on the tech sheet that should be repaired maybe at a later service the tech will write that down and then he will hand the work order off to billing. The billing department will get your work order and look over carefully to make sure that nothing was over looked, and that the tech remembered to add any parts on the sheet that was put on the equipment or replaced, then the machine is billed out.
You might think that the journey is completed! Not at all, because there is just one more step that your machine has to go through before we contact you to pick up your machine, and that is our Quality Control Specialist will do a full inspection of your unit before we contact you, and put it through a number of testing methods to make sure that everything preforms well, and if he/she passes your unit, then we will contact you and let you know that your machine is completed.
